How to create a deal on Groupon.

Deals drive sales and Groupon is the site for deals. Groupon boasts more than 900 Million sales on their site and is quickly growing. Here is how to get your business on Groupon and create your first deal.

1. Go to Groupon Merchant and click Get Started

To get started, go to GrouponMerchant and click on get started. If you already have an account, then Sign In. You can also view some of the Groupon statistics from this page and see why creating a Groupon deal is good for business.

2. Select a Solution that best matches your business.

Groupon has four different types of accounts. Local deals is for local businesses such as Cafes, Plumbers, ect. Getaways is for those who are selling a travel destination, flights, or travel agencies. Live is for designed for events and selling tickets. Goods and Retail is designed for products or companies that are selling internationally or to larger markets. Choose the Groupon account that fits your business best.

3. Enter your business information.

Enter your business information and make sure that it is correct. Groupon will check your information and it will be used for the legality of the deal.

4. Click the link in your email.

Groupon will send you a link to confirm your account and allow you to login. Click on the link in your email and set your password. Once you have set your password; go to the sign in page and sign in to your new account.

5. Start building your campaign.

Once you have logged in to your new dashboard, you will see a button that says Create Your Deal. Click on the button and you will be brought to the step by step form that allows you to create a deal. Be sure to have in mind what type of deal you would like to offer.

6. Choose a category and create a deal.

You will be able to choose and edit your category here. Once you have chosen a category, Groupon will then show you deal templates that match your category. You can choose one of these templates or go to the bottom and start from scratch. We always recommend searching on Groupon to see what kind of deals your competitors are offering.

7. Edit the deal and set price.

Once you have chosen a template, you can edit the deal. Here you can change the name, set the regular pricing, Cap, and percentage off. You will also be able to see how much Groupon gets and how much you will get. Continue to adjust the pricing and make sure that it is still profitable for you. Once you are happy with the deal, click Continue.

8. Add a photo.

Here you can choose from their photos or add your own. Make sure that the photo fits your deal and will attract the customer’s eye. You can also preview your Groupon deal by clicking the blue Preview Deal in the top right.

9. Describe your deal.

Describing your Groupon deal is very important. This is where you will layout the specifcs and make sure that the customer understands everything. Confusion with a deal could lead to an unhappy customer. Also give a good description of your business here.

10. Set the terms and limits for your deal.

Now, you will set the terms and limits to your deal. In order to change Groupon deal terms, click on the blue number and the option will come up.

11. Set the location of the deal.

Set where the customer will redeem their deal. If you will travel to the client, then you can check the box at the bottom. You can also choose to have an all online business. A quick hint is to double check your address. Many customers will copy and paste this into their GPS, and you want it to come up easily.

12. Set the launch date.

Choose when you want to launch your deal. If you are going to advertise the deal in the press, then leave at least two weeks of promo time before the launch date.

13. Enter legal information and sign the contract.

Next you will have to enter your bank and tax information, upload insurance and other legal documents, and then sign the contract that Groupon has created. Once you have finished these things, your deal will be reviewed and launched. Groupon sometimes will make suggestions to help you deal be more successful.
